Last year's disaster in Japan has helped to further highlight the importance of the U.S.
emergency preparedness infrastructure. The location of emergency operations facilities is a vital clement of that infrastructure and is one that deserves staffs focused attention and appropriate review by the Commission. In the matter of Entcrgy's proposal to relocate its backup emergency operations facility, staffhas performed a thorough assessment and verified that the new facility will have the capability to support required functions in the event of an emergency and will, in fact, have capabilities that improve upon those of the facility it would replace. Moreover, the letters provided by the relevant state and local emergency authorities indicate that these organizations have reviewed Entergy's proposal and concurred with the anticipated relocation. I therefore tind that this request is appropriate and I approve Entergy's request.
