Request for Additional Information Regarding May 22, 2012 Physical Security Plan Request Date: Thursday, July 26, 2012 3:53:47 PM Christina, Rita and Cassi, By letter dated May 22, 2012 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML12145A194), Entergy Operations, Inc. (the licensee) submitted the Grand Gulf Nuclear Stations Physical Security Plan (PSP), Training and Qualification Plan (T&QP), and Safeguards Contingency Plan (SCP), Revision 12. The enclosure to the letter contained Safeguards Information and has been withheld from public disclosure. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff is currently reviewing the submittal to ensure compliance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Section 50.54(p)(2).

The NRC staff has determined that the following additional information is needed to complete our review. This request was discussed with Ms. Cassandre Justiss of your staff on July 25, 2012, and it was agreed that a response would be provided by August 30, 2012. 1. In section 15.1 of the PSP the license describes illumination at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. Does the use of alternate technologies used for the assessment of the PA perimeter at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in no-light or low light conditions meet the requirements 10 CFR7 3.55(e)(7)(i)(C) and 73.55(i)(2)
