FOR VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. ME7764)

Dear Mr. Ajluni:

By letters dated June 30, 2011 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML111820361) and September 21,2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML112650199), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (the licensee), submitted information summarizing the results of the 2011 steam generator tube inspection performed at Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Unit 1 during refueling outage 16. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the information provided by the licensee and determined additional information is required to complete the evaluation.

The NRC staff's request for additional information is enclosed.

Please provide a response within thirty (30) calendar days of the date of this letter.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 2011 STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INSERVICE INSPECTION RESULTS SOUTHERN NUCLEAR OPERATING COMPANY, INC.

VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNIT 1 DOCKET NO. 50-424

1. Please discuss the scope and results of your secondary side inspections, if any. Was there any evidence of change in the region of SG 4 affected by the tube pulling operation?
2. On page E-2 wear due to foreign objects was observed in all SGs. However, in Table 1, there does not appear to be any wear attributed to foreign objects in SG 2. Please clarify.
3. Please discuss whether any foreign objectslloose parts remain in the SGs. If so, discuss whether an analysis was performed to assess their affect on tube integrity until the next inspection. Were any foreign objects/loose parts left near active tubes with wear indications attributed to those loose parts?
