Dear Mr. Gatlin:

On May 24, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met representatives from South Carolina Electric and Gas and members of the public in Blair, South Carolina. The purpose of the meeting/open house session was to discuss the initiation of the construction inspection program of the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station, Units 2 and 3 with the public. In addition, the NRC discussed the annual assessment of Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1 with the public for the period of January 1, 2011 - December 31, 2011.

A public meeting notice was issued on May 8, 2012, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ML12129A383). The notice included the meeting agenda, which was also available as a handout at the meeting. Attached is a list of attendees and the construction inspection slides presented during the meeting. Copies of the posters used during the Unit 1 discussion are available from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) at ML12153A177. Copies of the slides presented during the discussion of the construction inspection program are available in ADAMS at ML12152A015 In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from ADAMS.
