NRC telecon 20120417 Abandoned Equipment.pdf; NRC telecon 20120426 RAIs 4.2.2-4 and 4.2.4-1.pdf Sam..... attached are telephone conference call notes from two recent calls with the NRC held on April 17, 2012 (License Renewal abandoned equipment drawings), and April 26, 2012, on time-limited aging analyses for upper shelf energy and pressure-temperature limits. It turns out that Larry Hinkle did take notes on the License Renewal abandoned equipment drawing discussion.

Please contact me with questions on these telecon notes.

Thank you, Steve Dort DBNPS License Renewal

NRC Telecon Regarding Davis-Besse License Renewal NRC Attendees:

Sam Cuadrado de Jesus, Evan Davidson FENOC Attendees: Steve Dort, Larry Hinkle This telephone conference call was initiated by Sam Cuadrado de Jesus, NRC Project Manager for Davis-Besse License Renewal. The teleconference took place at 2:00 P.M.

on April 17, 2011. The purpose of the call was to discuss the FENOC supplemental response to NRC request for additional information (RAI) 2.1-3 regarding abandoned equipment, submitted by FENOC letter dated March 9, 2012 (ML12094A383).

The NRC desired clarification on the license renewal boundary drawings that were submitted as part of the supplemental response to RAI 2.1-3. Specifically, the NRC noticed that on drawing LR-M012E, Rev. 2 that at coordinate H-12 a continuation is shown from drawing LR-M010A. Since drawing LR-M010A was not submitted as part of the RAI response, the reviewer wanted to know if this drawing should have been changed as part of the response.

FENOC responded that drawing LR-M010A, Rev. 1, submitted by letter L-11-131 dated April 29, 2011 (ML11126A016), did not require a change as part of the abandon equipment RAI response. The continuation from the Treated Water System was previously in-scope for license renewal.

There was no further discussion, and the call was concluded.

NRC Telecon Regarding Davis-Besse License Renewal NRC Attendees:

Sam Cuadrado de Jesus, Allen Hiser, Christopher Sydnor, Jeffrey Poehler FENOC Attendees: Steve Dort, Larry Hinkle, Mark Rinckel, Ashok Nana, Sarah Davidsaver, David Noxon This telephone conference call was initiated by Sam Cuadrado de Jesus, NRC Project Manager for Davis-Besse License Renewal. The teleconference took place at 2:30 P.M. on April 26, 2011. The purpose of the call was to discuss the request for additional information (RAI) associated with reactor vessel (RV) upper shelf energy (USE) evaluations (draft RAI 4.2.2-4) and pressure temperature (P-T) limits (draft RAI 4.2.4-1).

For RAI 4.2.2-4, FENOC requested clarification on the options to demonstrate an acceptable USE for the RV beltline materials. After some discussion, FENOC indicated that the equivalent margin analysis (EMA) option would be used to demonstrate an acceptable USE for the Linde 80 welds. FENOC provided that the EMA for weld Wf-182-1, results previously provided in LRA Section 4.2.2.3, is bounding for the shell welds. For the remaining Linde 80 welds, reactor vessel inlet/outlet nozzle welds, FENOC indicated that an EMA had been performed for the outlet nozzle welds and that this analysis is bounding for the nozzle welds.

As part of the RAI response, FENOC agreed to submit the outlet nozzle weld EMA. Also, FENOC agreed to provide a technical justification as to why the EMA for weld WF-182-1 bounds the shell welds and the EMA for the outlet nozzle welds bounds the nozzle welds. These technical justifications are to include addressing geometry differences.

For RAI 4.2.4-1, the NRC provided clarification that this RAI pertains not only to reactor vessel beltline materials but also to all the other ferritic reactor coolant pressure boundary (RCPB) materials. FENOC provided that the methodology used to develop the pressure temperature (P-T) limit curves considered all ferritic RCPB materials and is documented in topical report BAW-10046A, Rev.2. This topical report was approved by the NRC in a Safety Evaluation Report dated April 30, 1986.

There was no further discussion, and the call was concluded.
