SUMMARY
OF PUBLIC MEETING On March 20, 2012, at 5:00 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open-house at the Ontario Town Hall in Ontario, New York. The NRC conducted the open-house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Ginna for 2011.
A notice of the open-house was issued on March 7, 2012, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML12065A193.
ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
The NRC presented poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Ginna for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2011, as documented in our letter dated March 5, 2012 (ADAMS Accession No. ML12061A275). The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Ginna can be found on the NRC's web site at:
www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
Members of the public, local officials, State officials, and congressional staffers attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Ginnas performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
