NRC STAFFS APRIL 2012 MONTHLY REPORT REGARDING THE SCHEDULE FOR REVIEW OF THE INDIAN POINT UNITS 2 AND 3 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The Atomic Safety and Licensing Boards Order (Granting NRC Staffs Unopposed Time Extension Motion and Directing Filing of Status Updates) (February 16, 2012) (unpublished),

directed the NRC Staff to submit status updates on the first business day of each month stating the expected completion date of the NRC Staffs ongoing safety and environmental reviews, the nature of the issues addressed by these reviews, and any other unresolved aspect of the NRC Staffs review of Entergys License Renewal Application for Indian Point Units 2 and 3.

On March 1, 2012, in the "NRC Staff's Status Report in Response to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board's Order of February 16, 2012" (March 1, 2012), the NRC Staff stated that ongoing safety review was being performed on the Reactor Vessel Internals Aging Management Program and Inspection Plan, and ongoing environmental review was occurring related to information from the National Marine Fisheries Service ("NMFS").

The NRC Staff hereby updates the information on the dates of expected completion and the nature of the ongoing reviews.

For the safety review, the NRC Staff is continuing to review information concerning the Vessel Internals Aging Management Program and Inspection Plan, and anticipates this review to be completed and documented in a supplemental safety evaluation report by August of 2012.

For the environmental review, the NRC Staff is continuing to review information from NMFS, and anticipates publishing a draft supplement to the final environmental impact statement by May of 2012.

The Staff is not currently aware of any other matter that has the potential to further delay this proceeding.

Respectfully submitted,
