Braidwood RAI rgarding request for relief I3R-08. TAC Nos. ME6024 and ME6025
- Lisa, By letters dated April 11, 2011, as supplemented by letters dated June 6, 2011, and November 2, 2011, Exelon Generation Company, LLC, (Licensee) submitted request for relief, I3R-08, from certain examination requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code at Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2. Specifically, the licensee proposed using root mean square (RMS) error criteria for sizing flaws from the inner diameter surface exceeding the 0.125 criteria.
The NRC staff has concerns with the submittals. The attached request for additional information identifies the NRC concerns and requests you respond regarding how the concerns will be addressed.
As the is needed for your spring refueling outage, we ask that the response to the request for additional information be expedited. As agreed on a call with you following a clarification call on February 23, 2012, regarding the relief request, we request that your response be provided on or before March 12, 2012, to support our timely review. I will provide an accession number for this email when it is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System for referencing in your response.
