SUMMARY

OF DECEMBER 21,2011, PUBLIC MEETING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY REGARDING WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2, FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT RELATED TO SECTION 9.5.1 FIRE PROTECTION On December 21,2011, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the NRC staff's questions and comments on the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Unit 2 Final Safety AnalYSis Report, Section 9.5.1, Fire Protection Report (FPR), in support of TVA's application for an operating license. A list of participants is enclosed.

The meeting consisted of the NRC staff and TVA staff discussing new material that was added to the November 30, 2011, version of the FPR, as well as the information quality and consistency issues that the staff identified. TVA agreed that the new material was not of sufficient quality and was not properly integrated into the rest of the FPR TVA indicated that they would re-work this material and resubmit it to the staff. TVA also stated that the FPR would be re-reviewed once the revisions were completed to resolve the continued quality assurance issues.

Members of the public did not participate in the meeting.
