Thursday, September 01, 2011 9:09 AM Wilson, George; Kulesa, Gloria Ulses, Anthony; Martin, Robert North Anna Fuel High Spoke with Gerry McCoy this morning about the fuel at North Anna, both in the cores and the spent fuel pools.
George, he thought that you were taking up a role of Restart Plan coordinator (my term) here in NRR. If so, I would like to discuss the fuel issues with you when possible.
Fundamentally, until the plant determines if they exceeded the DBE or finds significant plant damage, the EPRI guidance provides a short list of what the plant should look for with regards to the fuel in the core (chemistry, loose parts monitoring, rod testing, etc) and does not require the visual inspection of fuel in the core. As for the spent fuel pools, the EPRI document give more guidance on what to look for.
FYI - Something interesting from the call this morning, the reactors scrammed on NEGATIVE RATE. We would have expected HI RATE scram instead.
