NOTIFICATION OF READINESS FOR NRC 95001 INSPECTION

Letter from NRC to TVA, "Third Quarter Assessment Letter for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant Unit 1 NRC Inspection Report 05000327/2011011, dated November 10, 2011 By letter dated November 10, 2011 (Reference), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) informed Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) of its plans for a future inspection of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN), Unit 1, in accordance with Inspection Procedure 95001, "Supplemental Inspection of One or Two White Inputs in a Strategic Performance Area," for the "Unplanned Scrams per 7000 Critical Hours" performance indicator having crossed the green-to-white threshold.
This letter is to notify the NRC of SQN's readiness for the subject inspection. SQN has completed a root cause analysis pertaining to the white performance indicator regarding the number of reactor trips on Unit 1. A final assessment is being performed and is scheduled to be completed by February 17, 2012. Therefore, SQN will be ready for the inspection to be performed starting March 5, 2012.
