Dear Administrative Judges:

In our December 30, 2011 letter to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (Board), the staff of Nuclear Regulatory Commission indicated that Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS) was expected to be issued in January 2012 and the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS) in July 2012. Based on issues that the applicant recently identified in its Severe Accident Mitigation Alternatives (SAMA) analysis, the Staff is delaying the issuance of the DSEIS. At this time, the Staff is unable to project when the DSEIS or the FSEIS will be issued. Depending on the timing of the applicants supplement of its SAMA analysis, the Staff anticipates being able to project a date for issuing the DSEIS and FSEIS in April 2012.

At this time, the Staff still anticipates issuing the SER with open items and final SER in

March 2012 and October 2012, respectively.
