HOO Highlight - 8/23/11 - 5.9 Earthquake in Mineral, Virginia A reported 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred at approximately 1:50 PM today, epicenter in Mineral, Virginia. Due to this seismic activity a total of 12 nuclear sites declared an Unusual Event and one (North Anna) declared an Alert. All 12 nuclear sites maintained their present power level without interruption. Both North Anna units tripped from 100%
power and the site experienced a loss of offsite power, and is presently in Mode 3. By 2115 EDT, 11 of the 12 nuclear sites terminated from their Unusual Event and only Calvert Cliffs remains in a NOUE. NRC entered into Monitoring Mode in Regions 1 and 2, however, Region 1 exited from Monitoring Mode at 1852 EDT.
