Important News Disaster Unemployment Assistance See important information about Disaster Unemployment Assistance(/ui/claimantinfo/disaster-unemployment-assistance.shtm).

Individuals that live or work in one of the counties declared as a disaster, and who have become unemployed as a direct result of Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee, may be eligible for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) relief. You may qualify for DUA even though you would not normally be eligible for UI benefits. Click the link above for more information, and also see Frequently Asked Questions about DUA(/ui/claimantinfo/SpecialProvisions.shtm#DUA-Header).

NYS 3-month Average Unemployment Rate & Increase of Extended Benefits (EB) (Last updated October 11, 2011)

New York State has been approved to provide up to 7 more weeks of federal Extended Benefits (EB). As a result, the total available weeks of EB has been increased from 13 to 20 weeks. If you have claimed 13 or more weeks of Extended Benefits (EB ) and are still unemployed, you may qualify for these benefits. The first week you can claim these benefits is the week of October 10, and you may certify that you were unemployed that week starting Sunday, October 16, 2011.

We encourage you to use the One-Stop Centers for help in your job search. See http://www.mybenefits.ny.gov/

New York State Benefit Extensions (Last updated October 11, 2011)

After the increase in Extended Benefits that will become effective Monday, October 10, New York State's unemployment benefit extensions(/ui/claimantinfo/ExtendedBenefits.shtm) will provide 67 weeks of benefits. When combined with the regular 26 weeks of state benefit payments, this would allow for a maximum of 93 weeks of UI benefits. Please continue to claim weekly benefits in the usual way, unless we tell you to file a new claim. For current extension deadlines, see the EUC/EB Deadline Chart(/ui/claimantinfo/euc-eb-deadlines-chart.shtm). To estimate the number of weeks you may qualify for, see the Benefits Calculator(/ui/claimantinfo/UIBenefitsCalculator.shtm) or Chart(/ui/claimantinfo/Breakdownofadditionalbenefits.shtm).
