STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON NORTH ANNA, 9:00 A.M., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2011, COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by representatives of Dominion Nuclear and the NRC staff on the actions being taken by the licensee and the NRC staff to determine restart readiness of the North Anna nuclear plant following the August 23, 2011, earthquake located in central Virginia.
Dominion Nuclear was represented by David Heacock, President and Chief Nuclear Officer, and Gene Grechek, Vice President of Nuclear Development.
The Commission noted that, consistent with existing Commission policy, the licensee shall not resume operation until authorized to do so by the Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.
There were no requirements identified for staff action.
