EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT WAIVER REQUEST FOR LICENSED OPERATOR APPLICANT
Dear Mr. Allen:
In a letter (L-11-307) dated September 29, 2011, you requested a waiver - on behalf of one of your employees currently enrolled in the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station NRC initial licensed operator training course - to defer 1.5 weeks of the required 6 months on site experience eligibility requirement for a Military Direct SRO. We understand this employee is scheduled to take the NRC initial licensing examination in December 2011.
We have reviewed your request and have determined that we can grant the requested waiver.
Please instruct Mr. H. Phelps to request the required experience waiver on their license application (NRC Form 398) to take the December 2011 examination. The waiver request should reference this letter. At that time, we will grant the waiver.
The waiver will allow the applicant to take the NRC initial license examination, but does not eliminate the requirement for the applicant to complete the required on site experience. Assuming the applicant passes the NRC license examination, they will not be issued an operator license until you certify in writing to the NRC that the applicant has completed all requirements to be issued an operating license.
