Enclosed herewith is a copy of a Memorandum from Edwin M. Hackett, Executive Director of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards ("ACRS"), to RW. Borchardt, NRC Executive Director for Operations, dated September 21, 2011, advising that the ACRS has considered and decided not to review SER Supplement 1. SUPPLEMENT 1 TO NUREG-1930, "SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT RELATED TO THE LICENSE RENEWAL OF INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNITS 2 AND 3" During the 586th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, September 8-10, 2011, the Committee considered Supplement 1 to NUREG-1930, "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the license Renewal of Indian Point Nuclear Generating Units 2 and 3," which documents the staff's review of supplemental information provided by the applicant since the issuance of the Indian Point Safety Evaluation Report (SER). This information includes annual updates required by 10 CFR 54.21 (b), and updated information and commitments in response to staff requests for additional information. The SER supplements portions of Sections 3, 4, 5, Appendix A, and Appendix B. The Committee decided not to review Supplement 1 to NUREG 1930. No response to this memorandum is required.
