SALEM/HOPE CREEK SITE AUDIT FINAL DATA NEEDS Completed: 2/12/09 General

" Graphics: 6-mile, 50-mile, t-lines, site layout, etc in a format that can be edited. We need to be able to remove/edit the legend and title block.

" Map or explanation of the exact boundaries of Artificial Island

" Map of all named creeks/streams in the vicinity of Salem/HCGS, especially Hope Creek itself

" Consultation Letters

" Applicable Permits

" NJPDES Permit Fact Sheets 1996 and 2002

" Proper facility ID numbers (EPA and NJEMS) for hazardous waste

" LLRSF and hazardous waste procedures

" Pollution prevention programs/initiatives Meteorology and Air Quality

" Information on Salem and Hope Creek air emissions sources and permits (including Hope Creek, Salem 1, Salem 2, and Salem 3)

" Description of meteorological monitoring system.

" Information on regional air quality, including major sources in the region, and locations of Class 1 Federal Areas.

" Narrative (referencable) description of meteorological monitoring system.

Water Use and Quality

" Narrative and/or copies for NJPDES permits associated with Salem Unit 3, if different from those already provide for Hope Creek and Salem.

" Narrative (referencable) description of surface water, groundwater, and sediment monitoring program (REMP), as well as resulting REMP data reports (assume going back 5 years).

" Environmental Setting information on the Delaware River Estuary Transition Zone (ER references a PSEG 2006a document - need an outside agency or literature reference if available).

  • Documentation of any correspondence between PSEG/Salem, and NJ, DE, DRBC, or EPA regulators regarding potential modifications to open-cycle cooling systems at Salem (if any). If large number and volume, we'd like to discuss what exists first, and then potentially request specific documents.

Land Use and Socioeconomics

" Ownership of remainder of Artificial Island (other than PSEG-owned land).

" Distance from reactor buildings to site boundary.

" Distance to from reactor buildings to nearest residences and population centers.

" Property taxes paid by PSEG in 2008 and 2009 (if available) to local governments and total property tax revenues in those jurisdictions (update of ER Tables 2.7-1).

" In addition to property tax payments, any other major annual support payments, one-time payments, or other forms of non-tax compensation (if any) provided to local organizations, communities, and jurisdictions (e.g., county, municipality, township, school district) on behalf of Salem or HCGS.

" More recent information on the total number of Salem, HCGS, and PSEG corporate permanent employees and the residential distribution of those employees, if available (update of ER Tables 2.6.2).

" Identification of county and state of residence for Salem, HCGS, PSEG corporate, and matrixed employees separately (revision of ER Tables 2.6.2).

" Information on any changes in assessed property value for Salem or HCGS or any other recent or anticipated payment adjustments that could result in notable increases or decreases in tax or other payments.

" Any studies that have quantified, or considered, the impact of noise from Salem or HCGS facilities at various locations offsite.

" Data on the height of stacks, cooling tower, and other plant buildings, and information on the visibility of plant facilities and cooling tower plume from various offsite locations.

" Information about any observed subsistence consumption behavior patterns, specifically fish and wildlife consumption, by minority and low-income populations in the vicinity of Salem and HCGS (such as hunting, fishing, trapping of game animals and any other general food gathering activities).

" Information about current or past wildlife sampling and testing of game animals such as deer, squirrel, turkey, fish, etc. that may have been conducted in the vicinity of Salem and HCGS.

Ecocolgy

" Descriptions of life histories and other characteristics of important species of fish and invertebrates of the Delaware River, Estuary, and Bay system. Important species include commercially or recreationally valuable species, species that are critical to the potentially affected ecosystem, species for which essential fish habitat (EFH) has been designated in the vicinity of the site, rare/protected species, and species vulnerable to impacts from cooling system operation.

" Descriptions of other main components of the biological community of the Delaware Estuary, including plankton, aquatic macrophytes, reptiles, mammals, and birds.

" Descriptions of the biological communities of the wetlands in the vicinity of the site and in the transmission line ROWs.

" Biological Monitoring Program Annual Reports, if available, for years after 2007.
