MILLSTONE POWER STATION UNITS 2 AND 3 EMERGENCY RESPONSE DATA SYSTEM (ERDS) CHANGES This letter is being submitted pursuant to the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, Section VI, Paragraph 3.b - Maintaining Emergency Response Data Systems (ERDS), for Dominion Nuclear Connecticut, Inc. (DNC) Millstone Power Station Units 2 and 3.
DNC will make modifications to the ERDS software by converting from a dial-up modem system to a more reliable internet based utility using the Public R*Time server and an NRC supplied Virtual Private Network (VPN) appliance in September 2011. The NRC ERDS Resource desk was notified of this pending change via email on July 8, 2011.
This information is being provided per 10 CFR 50 Appendix E, VI, 3.b which states "hardware and software changes, with the exception of data point modifications, that could affect the transmission format and computer communication protocol to the ERDS must be provided to the NRC as soon as practicable and at least 30 days prior to the modification."
