OF THE MAY 25, 2011, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT PUBLIC MEETING On May 25, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted an Annual Assessment Public Meeting at the Waterford Town Hall in Waterford, CT.
The NRC conducted the meeting to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of Millstone Power Station for the calendar year 2010.
A notice of the public meeting was issued on May 5, 2011, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML111250109).
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Millstone Power Station for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2010, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML110620174). The NRC presentation (ADAMS Accession No. ML111880033) included a discussion of the NRCs 2010 Millstone performance assessment results and U.S. nuclear plant safety in light of Japan events. Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Millstone Power Station can be found on the NRC's web site at:
www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
The Attachment provides a list of local officials, Dominion employees and members of the public that attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Dominions performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
