John Barrow General Comment My name is Amanda King, I live in Georgia very near to your Hatch and Vogtle sites. I strongly support this petition.

I want the ideas outlined in it, or some similar to be implemented immediately.

And since I am taking my time to comment I want Hatch and Vogtle retrofitted first. Here are a list of my concems I. You cannot guarantee the reliability of offsite electrical power in the event of High Impact Low frequency events, in which case cooling to spent fuel pools could cease and cause the release of radiation into the environment.

2. Several events like solar flare, Emp attack, or cyber attack against the grid can knock out power for months, any remedy must be in place at the plants themselves.

And it must provide backup for years. The effects of an accident at one of your plants will last thousands of years. 3. Since there are thousands of different entities that own parts of the power grid it is totally irresponsible to believe that they can all respond quickly to a catastrophic event. 4. You cannot guarantee that in the event of societal disruptions your workers can report to work. While they should be there all the time you cannot expect them to be ,so plants must be ready for this. You have a duty to the citizens to protect us and the land. The recent loss of cooling to spent fuel pools at fort Calhoun brings this issue to the spot light. Long term outside power is no guarantee.

The electric grid will be the first target of any hostile attack along with petroleum refineries.

You must have backups that are independent of both of these. Only having a 4 hour4.62963e-5 days
0.00111 hours
6.613757e-6 weeks
1.522e-6 months
backup battery is criminally negligent.

You are endangering us all. Please move quickly to fix a problem that never should have existed in the first place. TEMPLATE = 5ECY-067 D510 https:llfdms.erulemaking.net/fdms-web-agency/Content V iewer?obj ectld=0900006480e50c49&hideOrig...
