Subject:

QUERY: Proposed ETE Reviews / HAB Exercise EOP In order to identify contractor support needed for the NRCs review of licensee evacuation time estimates (ETEs) per NUREG/CR-7002 under the proposed EP Rule, NEIs assistance is requested in projecting the timeframe and estimated volume for submittal of ETE updates under 10 CFR 50.40. At this time, NRC staff is not looking at identifying timeframes for specific licensee submittals, but rather developing a general overview in order to appropriately assign available staff and contractor resources. In developing your estimate, please use October 14, 2011 as the tentative date (for planning purposes) for the publication of EP Rule. Your input is requested by July 8, 2011.

Also, in preparation for the planned July 13 public meeting with NEI/Industry on Revision 2 to NEI 06-04 (announcement pending), NEI is requested to prepare a listing of specific areas where Industry believes that clarification is needed regarding the extent of play for a hostile action-based (HAB) exercise under the proposed EP Rule versus that seen to date under the HAB Drill initiative. Your input is requested by July 1, 2011 to allow sufficient time for NRC staff to discuss prior to the planned July 13 public meeting.

Please note that this e-mail and subsequent NEI response(s) will be entered into ADAMS as publicly available.
