Subject:

Revised Submittal Schedule and Scope for Licensing Amendment Requests Supporting the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Unit 2, Steam Generator Replacement Project

Reference:

Letter from TVA to NRC, "Submittal Schedule for Licensing Amendment Requests Supporting the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Unit 2, Steam Generator Replacement Project," dated April 29, 2011 The purpose of this letter is to notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of a change in the submittal schedule and scope for License Amendment Requests (LARs) supporting the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN), Unit 2, Steam Generator Replacement Project. The Tennessee Valley Authority plans to replace the SQN, Unit 2, steam generators in the Cycle 18 Refueling Outage, scheduled to start in the fall 2012.

The reference letter provided a submittal schedule for LARs supporting the SQN, Unit 2, Steam Generator Replacement Project. As indicated in the reference letter, the LAR requesting to use Bar-Lock mechanical couplers has been submitted. Due to the need for additional analyses and reviews, the schedule for submittal of the remaining LARs is as follows.

The request for a one-time use for two 18-inch hatches in the shield building roof, scheduled to be submitted by June 1, 2011, will now be submitted by June 30, 2011.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 May 31, 2011 The request to revise steam generator inspections, scheduled to be submitted by June 1, 2011, will now be submitted by September 30, 2011.

The request for a one-time use for movements of heavy loads will be submitted by July 22, 2011, as indicated in the reference letter.

The submittal schedule for these LARs supports a one year NRC review time prior to the requested approval date.

The request to address the Code change used in restoration of the concrete roof of the steam generator compartments, scheduled to be submitted by June 1, 2011, has been determined to not require NRC prior approval in accordance with 10 CFR 50.59, "Changes, tests and experiments," and will not be submitted.

In addition, upon further review, it has been determined that the request to use Bar-Lock mechanical couplers does not require NRC prior approval in accordance with 10 CFR 50.59. As a result, a letter withdrawing this LAR will be submitted by June 1,2011.

There are no regulatory commitments associated with this submittal. Should you have any questions, please contact Dan Green at (423) 751-8423.

Respectfully,

_ýl R. M. Krich cc:
