June 1, 2011 Todd Chapman Webster Ridge Runners
[NOTE: HOME ADDRESS DELETED UNDER 10 CFR 2.390]
Dear Mr. Chapman:
I am writing in response to the feedback form you submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on May 5, 2011, regarding the R.E. Ginna Generating Station annual assessment meeting.
In your feedback, you discussed the capabilities of the Webster Ridge Runner snowmobile club as related to emergency response during severe winter weather. While the NRC does not have a method to directly employ the Webster Ridge Runner snowmobile club in emergency response efforts, we have forwarded your feedback to Constellation Nuclear Energy Group for their discussions with local emergency preparedness officials.
The NRC would also like to inform you that other local organizations volunteer unique capabilities to local emergency preparedness officials (i.e., Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) operators provide backup communication capabilities in some counties).
These organizations have volunteered their services directly to the counties to assist in emergency response activities. The NRC would also encourage you and your organization to inquire directly with your county about volunteering.
We very much appreciate your feedback. If you have any further questions in this matter, please contact Richard S. Barkley of this office at (610) 337-5065.
Sincerely,
/RA/
