ST. LUCIE PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING RELIEF REQUEST PR-9 (TAC NOS. ME5190 AND ME5191)

Dear Mr. Nazar:

By letter dated September 14, 2010, Florida Power & Light Company submitted Relief Request PR-9 for St. Lucie Unit Nos. 1 and 2. The relief request proposes an alternative to biennial Comprehensive Pump Testing of Group A pumps.

The NRC staff is reviewing your submittal and has determined that additional information is needed to complete its review. The specific questions are found in the enclosed request for additional information (RAI). It is requested that your RAI response be provided within 30 days of the date of this letter.

Please confirm that when using the proposed modified Group A test, vibration tests will be performed, and the acceptance criteria for the vibration tests will be the same as for Group A tests shown in Table IST8-5200-1.
