Indian Point Section 7 Consultation Julie -
Im writing to recap our discussions from this past week. I will also summarize them in a forthcoming teleconference summary.
As we discussed, Entergy expressed its intent to participate in the ongoing Endangered Species Act Section 7 Consultation related to the proposed license renewal of Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3 in a letter dated March 1, 2011. In that letter, Entergy requested that the NRC staff seek a 45-day extension to allow it to submit information on or before April 30, 2011.
The NRC staff proposes that NMFS extend consultation to May 15, 2011, in order to allow Entergy to submit its information by April 30, and to allow NMFS to resolve any questions or concerns it may have related to that information. The due date for the biological opinion would then be June 29, 2011, though NMFS may request additional time to complete the biological opinion.
