UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 REVIEW OF THE STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INSERVICE INSPECTION REPORT FOR THE SPRING 2010 REFUELING OUTAGE VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION, UNIT NO.2 DOCKET NO. 50-339 By letter dated September 21,2010 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). Accession No. ML102640440). Virginia Electric and Power Company (the licensee) submitted a report summarizing the steam generator (SG) tube inspections performed during the spring 2010 refueling outage for North Anna Power Station, Unit No.2 (NAPS).

NAPS has 3 replacement Westinghouse Model 54F SGs which are designated A, B, and C.

Each SG contains 3592 thermally treated Inconel690 tubes which have an outside diameter of 0.875 inches and a wall thickness of 0.050 inches. The tubes have been hydraulically expanded into the tubesheet and the stainless steel Type 405 tube support plates contain broached quatrefoil holes. These SGs began operation in 1995.

The licensee provided the scope, extent, methods, and results of the NAPS SG tube inspections in the report referenced above. Only the tubes in SG B were inspected during the 2010 outage. By e-mail dated January 20, 2011 (ADAMSAccessionNo.ML110560570), the licensee clarified that no secondary side degradation was identified during the secondary side inspections performed in 2010.

Based on a review of the information provided. the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff concludes that the licensee provided the information required by their technical specifications. In addition. the NRC staff concludes that there are no technical issues that warrant follow-up action at this time since the inspections appear to be consistent with the objective of detecting potential tube degradation and the inspection results appear to be consistent with industry operating experience at similarly designed and operated units.
