This letter concerns your December 7, 2010, letter (ADAMS Accession No. ML110210996) and comments (ADAMS No. ML110210998) on the subject Draft Regulatory Guide, DG-1240, Condition Monitoring Program for Electric Cables Used in Nuclear Power Plants (Federal Register of June 10, 2010, 75 FR 33853), Docket ID NRC-2010-0202.
Thank you for your interest regarding DG-1240. In accordance with the established internal U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission procedures, the staff sponsoring DG-1240 has been in discussion with the Committee to Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) regarding a formal CRGR review to ensure that the agency backfit policy and procedures have been followed.
The formal review is tentatively scheduled for March 25, 2011. Documents will be provided to the CRGR members that summarize all public comments pertaining to backfit and a description of the staffs proposed resolution. The extended set of comments submitted by the Nuclear Energy Institute in the December 7, 2010 memo to Mr. James E. Lyons from Mr. John C. Butler will be included in this documentation.
