RESPONSE TO THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDS REPORT ON THE SAFETY ASPECTS OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE KEWAUNEE POWER STATION
Dear Dr. Abdel-Khalik:
During the 578th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (Committee) held on December 2-4, 2010, the Committee completed its review of the license renewal application for the Kewaunee Power Station and the associated final safety evaluation report prepared by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. In the Committees final report, dated January 7, 2011, the Committee recommends renewal of the Kewaunee Power Station operating license. The NRC staff appreciates the Committees thorough review of the plants license renewal application and the associated final safety evaluation report, especially for its deliberations regarding issues with the steam generator divider plate and with the steam generator tube-to-tubesheet welds.
The NRC staff recognizes the Committees commitment to safety and appreciates its continued support of the license renewal process.
