HBPP RESPONSE TO NRC RSIs RE: LAR 10-01 Follow Up Flag:

Follow up Flag Status:

Flagged Chris, During our December 21, 2010 telecon, you suggested that I send you an email with an expected date when we could respond to the NRC RSIs. I met with our techincal folks yesterday and today, and we believe we can respond to the RSIs by January 31, 2011.

One item I want to clarify - during the December 21, 2010 telecon, I told you and the reviewers that I believed the GTCC process wastes would be stored inside two stainless steel containers that will be seal welded. That is incorrect. The process wastes will be stored inside one dry, inerted, welded, stainless steel container. This container will be placed in another "container" inside the cask. However, this other "container" that I thought was also welded shut, is not. This other "container" does not have a lid, and is used to stabilize the welded container inside the cask. This will be fully explained in our response. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.
