RE: Item for Environmental Review
- Steve, We have looked into this and their question is somewhat puzzling in itself. The only thing we can think of (going back to our table in the ER) is that for weekly sampling we will take gross alpha /beta samples; and for those we will perform isotopics if they show greater than 10% for the uranium isotopes. For the quarterly samples (composites), they already get an isotopic analysis. The footnote therefore applies to the weekly samples. In our ER, the footnote may be placed incorrectly. In your table in the DEIS, you've lumped the two analyses together with the footnote at the end. I think the clarification is that the criteria for performing the additional analysis is determined based on the gross alpha or beta measurment being greater than 10% of the Table 2 values of App B or 10CFR20. There is no other screening criteria that will trigger the isotopic analysis.

Bridge line and item for Environmental Review Hi Jim, As I mentioned, Steve Lemont would like AESs input concerning a comment from State of Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (see attached letter, dated September 13, 2010).
The comment is found on page 3 of 6, Item 9 and refers to Chapter 6: pp. 6-4, Table 6-2 and asks for clarification of any gross alpha or beta measurement over 10% of the listed U value will be analyzed further, or if there are specific criteria based on a gross alpha beta screening that will trigger the analysis.
Steve would like to discuss with you as an add-on to our 10:00 call this morning with Rosemary Reeves and Steve.
