ENCLOSURE 2 TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL SEABROOK STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION December 21, 2010 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra or the applicant), held a telephone conference call on December 21, 2010, to discuss and clarify the following request for additional information (RAI) concerning the Seabrook Station, license renewal application (LRA).
Meteorology and Air Quality
- 1. As available, please provide an updated summary of onsite meteorological observations for the operational period of record, as follows:
average seasonal (summer and winter) temperature average maximum (summer) and minimum (winter) temperature average annual precipitation average annual snowfall average annual wind speed average seasonal (spring, summer, fall, winter) wind speed and direction (for the 10-meter tower level or equivalent) meteorological extremes for the period of record and date of occurrence including maximum temperature, minimum temperature, maximum annual precipitation, maximum 24-hour precipitation, maximum annual snowfall, and highest recorded wind speed and direction The data is requested to supplement the narrative meteorological description and to provide more current data over that provided in the environmental report.
Discussion: The applicant stated that their onsite monitoring equipment did not capture the data in the format that the staff was requesting (i.e., the data was captured hourly and did not calculate averages) and that not all data requested was available. Additionally, the applicant asked for clarification as to what was meant by summer and winter. The staff agreed to re-evaluate the RAI.
Subsequent to the phone call with the applicant, the staff determined that this RAI was not necessary, as comparable data was readily available from alternate sources. Therefore, the staff agreed to withdraw this RAI.
