RE: Material and Environment Audit

Rick, I just confirmed that it is our intent to complete the verification of the 35 random samples for the M&E audit. If we cannot complete it during this audit, it will continue during the AMP audit. It is also our intent to complete the verification of the 85 random samples for whether the component is within the scope of license renewal or not. Again, if that cannot be completed during this audit, it will continue during the AMP audit.

Basically, one person is responsible for these two efforts, and based on past experience, it takes about a day or less to complete each one. For the M&E audit, well need one person to escort the reviewer to various locations within the plant (except containment) to verify the material and environment. The other effort does not require any walkdowns.

Please let me know if you think the walkdown for the M&E audit will not be feasible next week. Don Brittner will be the technical reviewer doing the M&E audit.

Material and Environment Audit

Rick, Attached is the material and environment spreadsheet which will be used during the upcoming scoping and screening methodology audit. It contains 35 random samples taken from the AMR Table 2s in the LRA. This spreadsheet is for the material and environment verification. As you'll see, there are several components for which NextEra will not be able to show to the reviewer because the components will not be accessible. For those components that are inaccessible, we would appreciate seeing documentation that would indicate what are the component material and environment.

The second verification that will be conducted is of 85 random samples based on your equipment database.

Rick Plasse has already sent this file to you. For this effort, the reviewer will want to determine if the 1

component is or is not within the scope of license renewal. For those that are determined to not be within the scope of license renewal, he will determine if the component was appropriately omitted from scope.

If you have any questions regarding these spreadsheets or what will be taking place regarding their use, please call or email me.

Thanks, Kim 2
