Additional Draft SAMA RAIs for Monday's Telecon
- Rick, Sorry for the late addition, but below is an additional question that we would like to add based on the review of your IPE.
The IPE identifies an improvement to install an alternate, independent emergency feedwater pump (e.g., diesel firewater pump hard piped to discharge of startup feed pump. SAMA 29, provide capability for alternate injection via diesel-driven fire pump, was screened in Phase 1 as implemented through alternate mitigation strategy. In addition, SAMA 163, install third EFW pump (steam-driven),
was determined to not be cost-beneficial based on the estimated benefit of $100K in the baseline analysis and $190K in the uncertainty analysis, and a cost of >$250K. Describe the alternate mitigation strategy that was the basis for screening SAMA 29 and, since SAMA 29 appears to be a lower cost alternative than SAMA 163 and would achieve much of the estimated benefit of SAMA 163, clarify why SAMA 29 should not be further considered in the Phase 2 evaluation.
We are still determining where this additional request will fall with the other RAIs, i.e. if it will be its own question, or a subpart of another question, but I wanted to pass it on now to give you the most time prior to the phone call. Also, we will not be asking question 3b.
