RE: Request from Greg Pick on sin gua cove plates sapn 50341635 Mike and Terry, I updated the notification 50351635 with the following:

Civil Engineering will be creating a maintenance plan that will ensure enhanced monitoring of the strain gauges and their cover plates for degraded conditions. Civil Engineering will also be issuing a design change or N-Mod to provide permanent fix options (including sealing up of the entire strain guage wire box) that can be implemented depending upon the as-found condition (extent of damage) of the strain guage wire boxes.

I think that the NRC will be pleased with this commitment.

Request from Greg Pick on sin gua cove plates sapn 50341635 David:

Greg Pick called today and is trying to issue his Regional Inspection Report. He indicated that one of his inspectors wanted to call this issue an unresolved item. Greg asked if we were going to take some corrective actions such as putting caulking and/or putting a periodic inspection of the joints around this feature then they would like to discuss this in their inspection instead of making it an URI. Greg indicated that currently the notifications says do an evaluation of this issue. Greg wants to issue his report next week if possible so he will probably will not agree to delay this item for a week. If you agree, we could just update the notification that we will caulk the joint and inspect it as part of our normal containment inspection. This action would resolve the issue. If you feel no corrective action is required, then could one of your engineers be available next week to present your position?
