RE: Site audit - Interest from National Marine Fisheries Service
- Drew, Since you are meeting with your team this afternoon, I was wondering if you could please ask the following question that I received yesterday (as we were doing our health physics tour dry-run):
- Would the NRC reviewer like to go into the RCA? Specifically, the items that could be toured in the RCA are:
1.) Radiation monitors in the Auxiliary Building 2.) Liquid Radwaste Piping 3.) Plant Vent Sample Room 4.) Outsides of radwaste storage buildings 5.) Could go into the control room to see the switches that are used to make discharges Our first reason for asking is schedule-based. In order to gain RCA escorted access, the NRC reviewers would need to go through an hour of computer based training. This does not work in our current schedule (but we can always move things around of course!).
Our second reason is that the radwaste storage buildings can also be viewed from the visitor overlook (no dose). We would have our radwaste engineer at the overlook to describe the processes and to answer any questions.
Please let me know what your reviewer would prefer and we will do what we can to accommodate their preference!

RE: Site audit - Interest from National Marine Fisheries Service
- Drew, I'm happy to hear that they are interested in coming.
I would need the same information from each of the NFMS individuals as for NRC contractors.
Thanks for passing on this information!

Site audit - Interest from National Marine Fisheries Service Michelle -
I wanted to follow-up and let you know that we've received some interest from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in attending part of the site audit. I'll follow-up with them and find out more.
As you likely saw, our scoping letter to them invited them to attend if they were interested. I would anticipate that they may wish to participate during one or two days of the audit. NMFS is one of the agencies with which we consult on matters related to the Endangered Species Act. In addition, they also handle matters related to the Magnuson-Stevens Sustainable Fisheries Act (i.e., related to Essential Fish Habitat).
Please let me know whether we'd need to make any special arrangements for these individuals aside from the procedures for NRC staff and contractors. If you have any questions about this matter, please feel free to call me!
