Dear Chairman Jaczko:

First, I would like to extend my appreciation appreciation for making the trip to Brattleboro Brattleboro on July 14 to meet with the various groups who have serious concerns about the continued continued operation of of Vermont Yankee. As a member of the audience, it became became clear that many of the concerns concerns centered centered around the next 20 months, the time betweenbetween now and the scheduled closure of the station in March 2012. The groups want to work with the NRC to assure that the final twenty months of Vermont Yankee's operation operation are safe (NRC's purview), and that preparations preparations are sufficient to allow current employees employees to transition to work work for the decommissioning decommissioning of the site, including greenfield greenfield status, an agreement made by Entergy with the State of Vermont.

Since your visit, I have been contacted participants asking if I have received contacted by some of the participants received any word or response from you regarding regarding specific specific requests that were made during the meeting.

To recap, for your convenience convenience I am listing four requests requests that were presented presented at the meeting:

o The NRC should cease consideration of ENVY's relicensing cease consideration relicensing application application promptly, and turn all regulatory regulatory focus toward ensuring ensuring safety during the transition to closure of the Vernon reactor, and implementation implementation of of comprehensive comprehensive waste storage procedures. NRC should act with transparency to enforce its regulations regulations and maintain maintain strict vigilance vigilance so as to ensure against against accidents, mishaps, and accidental releases in the interim.

o The NRC should compile and disseminate a detailed plan for closure of closure of

This plan should reflect NRC staff expertise, lessons learned learned from other reactors, and the particular particular expertise ofpeople of-people who have worked at Vermont Yankee or who have relevant knowledge of its operations.
