- 7) Hatch - High Tritium Sample Results in Underground Cable Bunker High Tritium sample results from an underground cable bunker (pull box) near the Unit 1 and Unit 2 condensate storage tanks were identified by the licensee 4/22. The pull box contained tritium at 316,000 pCi/L.
The licensee pumped 325 gallons from the pull box to barrels for processing in the plants radwaste system. No other pull boxes had sample results of high tritium (no indications of migralion from this pull box to other pull boxes). The pull box is located inside of a permitted French drain system and at this time there are no.
indications that these tritium levels have migrated to the French drain. The licensee contacted the state of GA and also provided a courtesy call to the residents. The licensee has entered this issue in their corrective action program and is actively performing samples and attempting to identify the source. The most current samples of iearby groundwater wells does not indicate the presence high tritium levels. The residents will continue to follow the licensee's progress in identifying the source / cause.

The licensee believes the cause of the high tritium levels in the, pull box is due to a leaking valve in CST pump moat. Although an initial sample in moat did not verify high levels of tritium, the licensee performed several additional samples is various areas within the CST moat and did get a sample in one area with high levels of
-tium. The licensee is currently attributing the high tritium in the pull box to a weeping/leaking condensate
- ansfer system valve within the CST moat, then from the moat to the pull box via leaking conduit. Licensee is discussing encapsulating the leaking valve in a catch to collect leakage until valve can be repaired (Forward to Public Affairs POC (Scott Burnell) and Tritium Issues POC (Richard Conatser and Steve Gary); assiqned to Dave Garmon).
