SUMMARY

OF THE APRIL 28, 2010, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2009 DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION UNITS 2 AND 3 END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 28, 2010, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Grundy County Administration Building in Morris, Illinois. The meeting was between NRC Region III and Exelon Generation Company representatives to discuss the NRCs 2009 End-of-Cycle Assessment of Dresden Nuclear Power Station Units 2 and 3 safety performance.

The results of that assessment were discussed in a letter to the licensee dated March 3, 2010, which can be found in ADAMS at ML100610336.

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC and the nuclear industry, the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) and national ROP results. This was followed by a summary of the NRCs 2009 assessment of safety performance for Dresden Nuclear Power Station Units 2 and 3. The NRCs meeting presentation slides can be found in ADAMS at ML101200033. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the attached Enclosure.

Mr. Tim Hanley, Dresden Site Vice President, provided an oral response to the NRCs assessment. Mr. Hanley concurred with the NRCs assessment that Dresden Nuclear Power Station Units 2 and 3 were operated in a manner that preserved the health and safety of the public and the environment. In addition, Mr. Hanley discussed the licensee's view on both the White finding for uncontrolled rod withdrawal and the substantive cross-cutting issue in the area of Human Resources, Error Prevention Techniques. Mr. Hanley also described some of the actions the licensee is taking to address these issues.
