Dear Mr. Stuyvenberg,
I would like to thank the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for conducting the environmental scoping meetings in San Luis Obispo in March, 2010, and giving the local community a chance to provide input on what issues should be considered in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
I am writing to encourage the NRC to address Diablo Canyons economic impacts on the local economy and educational facilities in the area. Because of Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Pacific Gas and Electric Company is the largest private employer in San Luis Obispo County with more than 1,600 jobs. Additionally, the company is the largest property tax payer in the county paying more than $24 million for the fiscal year 2009/2010 with a significant portion going to local educational institutions. I truly believe that the environmental document must evaluate all of the relevant issues in a fair and balanced manner.
I look forward to reading the draft environmental document later this year. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely, Jim Stevens Vice President
