Re: Secondary system water usage

Dear Duke:

Current city water use, averaged over a year, is measured at about 37,000 gallons per day, rather than 51,000 gallons/day. The usage includes about 7000 gallons/day of measured blowdown, and about 30,000 gallons/day evaporation.

The blowdown number (7000) is lower than the one that you quoted (13,000) from the SAR written in 1999. The new cooling towers and their cleanup system produced a reduction in the daily blowdown.

On the other hand, the daily evaporation is about the same. The 38,000 gal./day that you quoted from our 2004 correspondence is a maximum. The 30,000 here is averaged over the year.

Many thanks, Edward Lau Superintendent, MIT Research Reactor 617-253-4211 E-mail Properties Mail Envelope Properties (201004132134.o3DLYR3L024582)
