Re:TMI information

Neil, Hi, many thanks for this. FYI, Exelon spokeswoman, just told me over email that "all normal outage work has resumed". Are you guys aware of this?

Aaron, Here is the Event Notification for the Three Mile Island 1 worker contamination event on Saturday.

The containment building was evacuated of approximately 175 workers after alarms sounded due to high airborne radiation levels. After checking the workers, it was determined 16 had measurements of between 10 and 20 millirems, two between 20 and 30 millirems and one between 30 and 40 millirem. A millirem is a measurement of exposure to radiation. The average American receives about 360 millirems of radiation exposure each year, from natural and manmade sources. The annual federal limit for occupational exposure to radiation is 5,000 millirems.

Exelon is currently performing minimal work inside the containment building until the cause of the event is fully understood.

Our Resident Inspectors reported to the site on Saturday to monitor the company's response to the event.

Yesterday, we had two radiation safety specialists on site, as well. The NRC will continue to follow Exelon's actions, including its development of a root cause evaluation.

Please let me know if you need additional information.
