Updated key talking points
- Sam, Attached are the updated key talking points that address Neil and Susan Loyd's comments for the information we have available. If we get additional information from the licensee on the extent of worker exposure, we will add that in the morning. We will also pursue the issue of pIrecedent with other contamination events tomorrow (DRP lead with DRS support).

TMI Low Level Airborne Contamination Inside Containment -
February 1, 2010 Key Messages
- On November 21, 2009, an airborne contamination event occurred inside the containment building (also known as the reactor building) at Three Mile Island (TMI).
9 The event had no affect on public health and safety.
- No contamination was found outside the containment building.
9 Approximately 150 workers exited the containment building and were processed through the licensee's portal radiation monitors.
9 Workers that were not able to clear the portal monitors were decontaminated and proceeded to be whole body counted.
9 Some workers received unplanned occupational dose exposures.
However, based on information provided by the licensee, the level of dose received was less than 1% of the NRC's regulatory limit.
9 The NRC has dispatched technical experts to independently review and confirm the licensee's technical assessment.
9 The licensee continues to investigate the cause of the event.
e The NRC's resident inspector is onsite and is monitoring the licensee's ongoing activities.
e The NRC has been responding to media questions and plans a press briefing today at the TMI training center.
- The NRC will continue follow up of this event under normal event follow up inspections to evaluate licensee activities in evaluating personnel contaminations and root cause for the event.
