Termination of the Operating License for the University of Arizona Research Reactor, Facility License No. R-52, Docket No. 50-113 Per 10CFR50.82(b) The University of Arizona requests termination of its nuclear reactor license after its expiration on May 22, 2010. The proposed Decommissioning Plan for the facility is submitted herewith. The documents included in this submission are:

Statement of Intent to obtain decommissioning funding according to 10CFR50.75e(1)(iv)

University of Arizona Nuclear Reactor Laboratory Decommissioning Plan University of Arizona Nuclear Reactor Laboratory Radiological Characterization Report University of Arizona Activation Analysis and Component Characterization University of Arizona Nuclear Reactor Laboratory Decommissioning Environmental Report On or before May 22, 2010, the reactor core will be defueled to a sufficient extent to place the reactor in an inoperable condition until the nuclear fuel can be removed from the site. By prior agreement, the DOE through its Reactor Fuel Assistance Program will assist in defueling our nuclear reactor following the end of operations.

The University -ofArizona has operated its reactor for more than 50 years and has maintained an exemplary record of compliance with Federal Regulations. We shall be pleased to receive the continued guidance of the NRC staff during the concluding phase of our licensed activities.
