February 19, 2010 Mr. Tomihiro Taniguchi, Deputy Director General Department of Nuclear Safety And Safeguards International Atomic Energy Agency Wagramer Strasse 5 P.O. Box 100 A-1400 Vienna AUSTRIA

Dear Mr. Taniguchi:

In 2008, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) performed an Operational Safety Assessment Review Team (OSART) mission in the United States at the Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO) power plant near Russellville, Arkansas. IAEA is coordinating with ANO to schedule the follow-up mission for later this year.

The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) has nominated Seabrook Station in New Hampshire to host an IAEA OSART mission in 2011. The enclosure to this letter lists the INPO, Seabrook Station, and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) contacts for the mission.

The NRC supports the IAEA Operational Safety Program of which the OSART program is an important part. The 2011 mission at Seabrook Station will be the seventh OSART mission in the United States. As part of our support for the OSART program, the NRC will share costs for the Seabrook Station OSART mission similar to our cost-sharing agreement for the ANO OSART mission. We request that the IAEA coordinate the mission schedule with Seabrook Station contacts so as to minimize impact on significant plant activities.

Sincerely,

/RA by Bruce S. Mallett for/
