RE: IPEC SAMA Letter Mike - The informational item we'd like to discuss is below. I'll arrange for a teleconference at 9a on Thursday (1/7) and will send you the access code as soon as I have it. Bob Palla and I will be the NRC staff on the call.
As described in Section 6 of the December 11, 2009 Entergy letter, several of the candidate SAMAs were subjected to more comprehensive and precise cost estimating techniques to determine whether they are potentially cost-beneficial given the revised SAMA benefit estimates. For several of these SAMAs, the revised (increased) cost estimate resulted in the SAMA becoming non-cost-beneficial (i.e., the SAMA would be cost-beneficial based on the cost estimate reported in the ER, but not cost-beneficial based on the revised cost estimate.) These SAMAs are IP2 SAMA 17 and 40, and IP3 SAMA 17, 20, 40, and 50. For each of these SAMAs describe the basis for the revised cost estimate and provide a breakdown of the cost estimate in terms of the major cost factors (e.g., using a breakdown similar to that used in Entergys response to SAMA RAI 5l).

RE: IPEC SAMA Letter Mike - Thanks for the note. Kim has spoken with me regarding the telephone call, and I had been in contact with Dara regarding a site visit.
At this point, we would like to plan a conference call for next Thursday if your team is available. We're flexible on the timing of the call, but would suggest either mid-morning (any time between 9a and 11:30a) or early
2 afternoon (any time between 1p and 3p). I'd estimate that we'd need about one hour for the call, though it may take less time.
Regarding a site visit, I would like to request that we do so during the week of 1/18. I had indicated to Dara that we would be on site for no more than one full day. If it works for you all, I would suggest that Wednesday, 1/20, might be a good fit for our team. I will work up a list of items our SAMA team would like to see on site, but I believe it will be very straightforward. I can have something to you (or Dara, if you would prefer) by early next week.
