RE: Status-Containment and Ventilation Branch The staff would like to have a call on the draft response that you sent us. Below are some of the things they would like to discuss. Can you support a call today at 1pm ET (12CT)?

SR 3.7.14.1 - Are the low flow lights associated with the filter fans and stack fans also being upgraded to augmented quality status? In the Bases section, there is a reference made to heaters. The statement reads "Systems without heaters need only be operated for 15 minutes to demonstrate the function of the system." This type of statement is normally associated with filter trains (with or without heaters) that are taken credit for in the accident analysis. Since the filters in the VNPAB exhaust are not taken credit for in the AST, we do not understand the reference made to the heaters in the Bases section..

SR 3.7.14.2 - We want to see a statement in the Bases that during the conductance of this SR, the associated supply fans into the VNPAB are also in operation.

LCO 3.7.14 - The operability definition provided in page B 3.7.14-2 together with LCO 3.7.14 and CONDITION A implies that you have 7 days before entering Required Action B.1, if the entire VNPAB system is not operable. We are not sure if this is your intent. If it is, provide justification for the proposed TS.

NextEra Response to SCVB#3 - The second sentence of your response is not clear to us. In particular, it is not clear how the mechanical equipment room is vented to the turbine building and if it represents CREFS Accident Mode 5 test configuration. Please provide further clarification.

Status-Containment and Ventilation Branch

Justin,

I left you a voice mail message today. I forgot you guys were off. Wanted to know if you had feedback on the subject response so we can formally issue. Its ready to go.

Also, per discussion with Westinghouse on SBLOCA RAI, most if not all of the info has already been sent via docketed correspondence. For the phone call, we will provide the inputs and in what docketed correspondence the inputs appear. This may negate the need for a formal RAI, but will delay when we have the phone call. I will get back to you when we will be ready to discuss.
