SUBJECT:

CONFIRMATION OF REQUESTED INITIAL OPERATOR LICENSE EXAMINATIONS FOR NORTH ANNA POWER STATION

Dear Mr. Heacock:

In a letter dated September 11, 2009, Serial # 09-481, your staff responded to Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-011 and requested we schedule initial license operator examinations for North Anna Power Station. Based on your letter and following discussions with your staff, we have scheduled the requested examination as follows:

Plant /

Station 2010 2011 Date Applicants Date Applicants North Anna 06/7 18 N/R N/R

  • N/R - None Requested On-site validation of the examinations is typically scheduled to occur approximately three weeks before each examination. If you have a need to change the dates of your scheduled exam from that listed above, please inform us in writing of your request and the reason for the change. Due to the large number of examinations scheduled to be administered at Region II sites, requests to change examination dates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We will confirm any change in examination schedule with a follow-up letter.

We understand that your staff will develop the proposed examination. For examinations that have greater than nine applicants, each examination is scheduled for a minimum of two weeks.

If the number of applicants is reduced to less than ten (10), please inform us as this will impact the examination schedule.

A supplementary letter will be sent to each stations training manager approximately 120 days prior to the initial examination. The letter will provide the training manager with the chief examiner=s name, an outline of examination security expectations, a list of the materials required by the NRC to conduct the examination, and it will reconfirm the examination dates and the number of candidates you have in the training program. If you have any questions concerning this information, please contact Mr. Malcolm Widmann, Chief, Operations Branch, at 404-562-4550.
