RESPONSE TO THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDS REPORT ON THE SAFETY ASPECTS OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT 2 AND UNIT 3
Dear Dr. Bonaca:
During the 565th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (the Committee) held September 10-12, 2009, the Committee completed its review of the license renewal application for the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit 2 and Unit 3, and the associated final safety evaluation report prepared by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). In the Committees final report, dated September 23, 2009, it recommends renewal of the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit 2 and Unit 3 operating licenses. The NRC staff appreciates the Committees expeditious review of the plants license renewal application and the associated final safety evaluation report.
The NRC staff recognizes the Committees commitment to safety and appreciates its continued support of the license renewal process.
