Kewaunee - Record of Phone Call in Which a Proposed Alternative Was Verbally Authorized Jack:
Upon request by the licensee, the NRC staff participated in a conference call with licensee personnel following the procedure regarding verbally authorizing a proposed alternative outlined in NRR Office Instruction LIC-102, "Review of Relief Requests," Rev. 2. The subject proposed alternative is described in the licensee's letters dated May 28 and July 27, 2009 (Accession Nos. ML091520538 and ML092090296)
The Acting Branch Chiefs of Plant Licensing Branch III-1 and Vessels and Internals Integrity Branch (Tom Wengert and Simon Sheng) agreed with the reviewer's (E. Andruszkiewicz) recommendation, and concluded that the proposed alternative will provide an acceptable level of quality and safety, and that it is authorized pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(i).
The staff informed the licensee that it plans to follow up in writing in the near future.
